How to Permanently Delete Facebook Messages

How do I delete messages or a conversation?

To delete one or more messages from a conversation:
Click Messages on the left side of your homepage
Open the conversation you want to delete a message from
From the Actions menu, select Delete Messages...
Use the checkboxes to select the messages you want to delete
Click Delete
You can delete an entire conversation by clicking Delete Conversation... from the Actions menu. Keep in mind, once you delete your copy of this conversation, this action can't be undone.

Note: Deleting a message or conversation from your inbox won't delete it from your friend's inbox. It isn't possible to delete sent or received messages from a friend's inbox.

Log into your Facebook account.




Click on the Messages icon located on the top left side of your homepage screen.


Select the Message/Conversation you want to delete. A popup window of the message will open.



Click on the gear icon, then select the “See Full Conversation” option.



Click on the drop-down menu called “Actions”, located on the top center of your screen.


Click on the option that says “ Delete Messages”.




Select the messages you would like to delete by clicking the box next to the messages, and then pressing delete.






To delete an entire conversation instead of clicking “Delete Messages”, click “Delete Conversation” .
Doing this will permanently delete the message/conversation from your inbox.
